Art, for me, is about making discoveries. Paintings are a way to find out what one may or may not know about all the elements that make up a painting. I enjoy trying to visually create the feelings that are inherent in each scene that I paint. My hope is to create a painting that will give the viewer a feeling, whatever that may be. I also hope, as I paint, to honor the subject of the painting as part of the process.
Every painting teaches me something.
Painting is also a great place to put my mind. It forces me to stay in the present in a very satisfying way. There is nowhere to go other than to see, to mix paint, to move across a canvas. And to look some more.
